DEPRESSION

I type this post when I was in the class break with my lecturer, on 21 December 2017. And yes, Christmas is around corner and this is supposed to be a merry situation where people celebrate Christmas with their love one. But no, I am not feeling good for these all. Today is the last day of Jonghyun – Shinee funeral, and I still can’t accept the fact that he wasn’t in this world anymore, that he would not produce any good music for his fans anymore. I don’t know him well though, but I do know that he light up Kpop World together with Super Junior and Wonder Girls, etc.
His death had taught a lot of people, especially shawols where life is really precious and never underestimated depression. So by here I would like to share some information about depression and if you guys had seen these clues between one of your friends or even acquaintance, kindly help them in ways. It may be a small act for you but who knows whether it can save a life or not.

Feelings:
  • Sadness
  • Hopelessness
  • Guilt
  • Moodiness
  • Angry outbursts
  • Loss of interest in friends, family and favorite activities, including sex
Thoughts:
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Trouble making decisions
  • Trouble remembering
  • Thoughts of harming yourself
  • Delusions and/or hallucinations can also occur in cases of severe depression
Behaviors:
  • Withdrawing from people
  • Substance abuse
  • Missing work, school or other commitments
  • Attempts to harm yourself
Physical problems:
  • Tiredness or lack of energy
  • Unexplained aches and pains
  • Changes in appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Weight gain
  • Changes in sleep – sleeping too little or too much
  • Sexual problems
In my opinion, when a depression got worst, people who suffered depression won’t tell the public openly how they think, because they are like they don’t trust anyone at all. I’m sure that people always had the moment where they felt that they don’t even worth living, maybe by leaving is the best choice and will not hurt a lot of people. But then, are you even sure that when you left, the place you are going will give no more pain for you? Will release you from being hurt? No one ever go there and really come back. The truth is that people who suffer from depression, they just need the courage and people around them to talk to them, help them to open mind slowly. There are more efficient way than the way you thought.
If any of you are afraid of this, you can try to find a psychology for a thoroughly check for your safety. I sincerely hope you have a nice and a long live.

WHAT TAIWANESE LOVE TO ASK

So, this post will be containing about 5 questions which people asked me when I was in Taiwan.
1.       为什么你比他们白? (Why is your skin fairer than them?)
-这个你别问我,可能是基因和激素的原因。
-DON’T ask me, maybe it’s because of gene or hormones.
2.       为什么他们都会用头巾盖头? (Why do they hijab?)
-他们大部分穆斯林教都这样,别问我我也不懂。
-Because she is a Muslim and most of them actually used it.
3.       那为什么你没有? (Then why you didn’t use it?)
-我是佛教的。(不是每个印尼人是穆斯林好吗,请不要误解,也不是每个穆斯林都用头巾)
-Because I’m Buddhism.
4.       为什么你才来几个月中文就这么厉害?(You just came here for few months, why your Chinese is so good?)
-我是印尼华侨。(印尼也有会说中文的好吗)
-Because I’m an Indonesian Born Chinese (?)
5.       你是香港人/台湾人/韩国人吗?(Are you a Hongkong people/Taiwanese/Korean?
-我是印尼人。 (长得太国际化了吗)
-I am an Indonesian.

There are still many other questions such as does Taiwan a good place to play, have you done walking all the places in Taiwan? Kinda good; not yet.
Taiwan is a big place, I’m glad and grateful enough that I am not lost.
And FYI, Some Indonesians can Chinese language, and most of them are friendly. We had the Muslim, Christian, Buddhism, Hindu, etc. Indonesia is a large country and there are a lot of islands, so don’t ask me whether I had finished travelled around Indonesia or not. I have no money and not enough time to travel.

STORY OF FARKHUNDA

Anyone knows Farkhunda? I was randomly searching on website and I saw her name and incident which attracts me. Below of this is what I had read about her.

Background
Farkhunda was an observant Muslim who wore a veil (hijab). At the time of the attack, she had just finished a degree in religious studies and was preparing to take a teaching post Her name means "auspicious" and "jubilation" in Persian language.

The attack
In a still frame from a video captured and widely disseminated on social media and in the news, a bloodied Farkhunda appears to plead with her attackers before she is knocked down.
Farkhunda had previously been arguing with a mullah named Zainuddin, in front of a mosque where she worked as a religious teacher about his practice of selling charms at the Shah-Do Shamshira Mosque, the Shrine of the King of Two Swords, a religious shrine in Kabul. During this argument, Zainuddin reportedly accused her of burning the Quran. She responded
"I am a Muslim, and Muslims do not burn the Quran!"
Hundreds of angry civilians flocked to the shrine upon overhearing the mullah's accusation. Police arrived and attempted to lead Farkhunda to a local precinct building one mile away, but she refused, asking for a female police officer to accompany her. The mob was able to drag Farkhunda away into the street where they knocked her to the ground and began beating and kicking her. More police arrived, firing warning shots into the air and temporarily dispersing the crowd. They moved her into the shrine in an attempt to shield her. As the crowd grew in size and rumors that she was working with Americans began circulating, the mob attempted to storm the shrine's walls. Police hoisted her onto the roof of the building in an escape attempt, but Farkhunda slipped and fell into the crowd.[
The mob dragged Farkhunda into the street and savagely beat and stomped her. She was bludgeoned with sticks and rocks outside the mosque, then placed into the road and run over with a car, dragging her body 300 feet. Police offered no resistance, and directed traffic around the scene. The mob then dragged her body to the nearby bank of the Kabul River, took turns stoning her and set her on fire; her body was soaked in blood and would not burn, so the crowd ripped off articles of their own clothing to ignite and maintain the fire.
Farkhunda's parents said the killing was instigated by the mullah Farkhunda had been speaking to. According to Tolo News he loudly accused her of burning the Quran "in order to save his job and life."[  An eyewitness said that the mob was chanting anti-American and anti-democratic slogans while beating Farkhunda. The mob was captured on video accusing of her of working with Americans, and of being a French embassy worker.

Reactions

-         -Public reaction in Afghanistan
A number of prominent public officials turned to Facebook immediately after the death to endorse the murder. The official spokesman for the Kabul police Hashmat Stanekzai, for instance, wrote that Farkhunda “thought, like several other unbelievers, that this kind of action and insult will get them U.S. or European citizenship. But before reaching their target, they lost their life.” The Deputy Minister for Culture and Information Simin Ghazal Hasanzada also approved the execution of a woman “working for the infidels.” Zalmai Zabuli, chief of the complaints commission of the upper house of parliament, posted a picture of Farkhunda with this message: “This is the horrible and hated person who was punished by our Muslim compatriots for her action. Thus, they proved to her masters that Afghans want only Islam and cannot tolerate imperialism, apostasy, and spies.”[
After it was revealed that she did not burn the Quran, the public reaction in Afghanistan turned to shock and anger. Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Kabul on 23 March protesting her brutal death. Protesters marched from where the attack began to where Farkhunda was thrown in the river. A number of women on the march wore masks of her bloodied face while others condemned the government for failing to bring security to Afghanistan. Shukria Barakzai, a member of parliament representing Kabul Province and a longtime women’s rights activist, told Al Jazeera that her killing had triggered the city and the rest of the country to think about women's rights. She said: "This is not a male or female issue, this is a human issue and we will not stop until the killers are brought to justice." Roshan Siren, a former member of parliament, said that the murder highlights violence against women in the country, and has become a rallying point for a younger generation of women to campaign for "the protection and progress of women."
The woman's father complained that police could have done more to save Farkhunda.

-          -Protests
On March 23, hundreds of women protested the attack, demanding that the government prosecute those responsible for Farkhunda's death. The protest was organized by Solidarity Party of Afghanistan and residents of Kabul. Farkhunda's death has also become a rallying point for women's rights activists in Afghanistan. On March 24, thousands of people protested the attack in front of the Afghan Ministry of Justice in Kabul. On April 27, Leena Alam and her co- actors re-enacted the attack during a protest in Kabul, in what Afghan observers called an unprecedented case of a public theatrical performance commemorating a woman's death.

-          -Official response in Afghanistan
Afghan president Ashraf Ghani ordered an investigation into the incident and, in a statement released by his office, condemned the "act of extreme violence". He described the killing as "heinous". He also said that Farkhunda's death revealed that Afghanistan's police were too focused on the Taliban insurgency in the country and not focused enough on local policing.
Nine men who were seen in the video of Farkhunda's murder on social media were subsequently detained. The Interior Ministry later reported that 28 people were arrested and 13 police officers suspended as part of investigations. Hashmat Stanikzai, an official spokesman for the Kabul police who publicly endorsed the murder, was sacked over comments that he made on social media supporting Farkhunda's killers.
The Afghanistan Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs announced that it found no evidence that Farkhunda had burned the Quran.

-          -International reaction
The European Union condemned the attack. A spokeswoman for European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said in a statement that "the killing of Ms. Farkhunda... is a tragic reminder of dangers women face from false accusations and the lack of justice in Afghanistan." She added, "We all hope that [those] responsible can be brought to justice." The United States also condemned the murder, with a statement from its embassy in Kabul calling for "those responsible to be brought to justice so such heinous acts will never occur again".
Global Times China columnist Farman Nawaz wrote "Choosing rulers through the ballot box is a positive sign for the country, but the survival, and even growth, of extremist mentality even after suffering from the barbarism of extremist groups reflects a critical failure by Afghan political parties".  Afghan American historian Ali A Olomi argued that Farkhunda's murder demonstrated the endurance of an underlying culture of violence and devaluation of human life that comes out of generations of Afghans being raised during a war and facing oppression.

-          -Reaction from Islamic scholars
A.      In Afghanistan
The day after the murder, certain imams and mullahs endorsed the killing during Friday prayer services in their mosques. One of them, the influential Maulavi Ayaz Niazi of the Wazir Akbar Khan mosque, warned the government that any attempt to arrest the men who had "defended the Quran" would lead to an uprising.
After it was revealed she did not burn the Quran, senior Islamic scholars in Afghanistan expressed outrage over the incident. Ahmad Ali Jebreili, a member of Afghanistan's Ulama Council set for administering Islamic law, condemned the attack, accusing it of contravening Islam. Haji Noor Ahmad, a local cleric, said "People come and execute a person arbitrarily; this is totally prohibited and unlawful. However, some justified her killing and were met with public anger."
B.      Abroad
Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi, a prominent, conservative, Islamic scholar, expressed horror on his Facebook page and said "A sign of how truly civilized a nation is, is how it treats its women. May Allah restore the honor and respect that women deserve in our societies!"
Yama Rasaw of the International Policy Digest blamed intolerance among Afghans and Muslims for the killing of Farkhunda.

Funeral
On March 22, a number of women, dressed in black, carried Farkhunda's coffin from an ambulance to a prayer ground and then to a graveyard in Chaikhana, a northern neighborhood of Kabul. This was a marked departure from tradition, which holds that such funerals are typically only attended by men.  At the end of 2015, it was reported that Farkhunda's grave was half-finished.

Criminal cases
Of 49 suspects tried in the case, four men were sentenced to death for their roles in Farkhunda's murder. The sentences were handed down by Judge Safiullah Mojadedi in Kabul on May 5, 2015. Eight other defendants were sentenced to 16 years in prison. The trial was noted for its unusual brevity, lasting just two days. The verdict has been criticized because although some investigators believe a fortuneteller set the attacks on Farkhunda in motion, this person was found not guilty on appeal, and the shrine's custodian had his death sentence commuted despite the fact that he originated the false charge that Farkhunda had burned the Koran.
Three suspects in the murder were still at large at the time of the May 5 sentencing, according to Mojadedi.
On May 19, eleven police officers including the local district police chief were sentenced to one year in prison for failing to protect Farkhunda.
On 2 July 2015, an appeals court overturned the death sentences of the four men condemned in the mob killing. Three of those had their sentences reduced to 20 years in jail, while the fourth was re-sentenced to 10 years prompting street protests and a debate on women's rights. The chief of police and a caretaker of the Shah-Do Shamshira holy shrine where the murder occurred were acquitted.

As of August 12, 2015 an examination of the outcome of the proceedings in the matter by a panel of lawyers appointed by Afghanistan’s president resulted in a planned recommendation to the Afghan Supreme Court that those accused in her death be retried. On March 19, 2016, the Women’s Political Participation Committee, an Afghan civil society organization, called for reevaluation of the Supreme Court’s decisions with more transparency.

POLICE CAR!

Hey, do you remember that last time I posted something about the embarrassing moment in Taiwan? And here is the spin off story!
I am marked as clumsy from my friends and I am trying to change that. The day after the embarrassing moment, I was still trying hard to move on about the incident. Although in the end I don’t mind much anymore because I’m busy for personal matters.
I skipped the morning class but I did the tasks in my room so I wasn’t considered as absent I think. I attended the afternoon class, sit and listened to whatever I don’t understand. I was focusing on what should I have for dinner instead of the class.
And then hotpot came out on my mind. I was thinking of going to Eda mall for hotpot as my dinner. I asked my friends and none of them are going with me so in the end I decided to go alone. In the middle of the class too, I checked whether I bring my wallet or not. If yes I don’t have to make a turn back to the dorm. But it turns out nothing. I didn’t bring and actually I had a small bad feeling, because I never forgot to bring my wallet whenever I went outside and that was my first time. I ran back to my room immediately after I finished my class. It turns out the wallet is nowhere to be found! My roommates then find together with me and it turns out nothing as result. I wasn’t so desperate though but I decided to make a report to the police station the next day.
The next day, after my morning class I went to the nearest police station to make a report. I was feeling okay although it was my first time going to a police station to make report. There are 3 policemen there. They have their quite fierce faces and I was afraid that I might spoke something that I wasn’t supposed to. But then, the one guy that made the report with me was quite humorous, he talked a lot and they are actually interested on why I can speak Chinese language fluently because I just arrived in Taiwan for 3 months. They even gave me a drink (maybe they think that I am afraid or nervous and I need a glass of water to calm down).
After we had the interview stuffs record and the report done. I was quite glad because it was finished within the time and I just need to wait for a few minutes for bus. When I was going out, the policeman asked whether I want to take a ride or not because they are going to the place I’m going to go too. I felt flustered, because my imagination runs wild, I afraid something bad will happen and I said no it’s okay, I don’t want to bother you, I will just take the bus. And he replied me by asking a question and answered by himself. In the end, I sit their car and they drove me back. The road feels like so short because I was pretty amazed by myself since it was my first time sitting a police car and it happened in a foreign country! I felt so grateful yet awkward because they dropped me off in front of my dormitory which of course is a good thing since it saved my time but when I get off from their car, the security nods his head to me and I have no idea what does it means so I nod back… (felt awkward after that)

茶叶蛋 or cha ye dan

This type of egg is the one that added tea leaves when it was boiling. It was a type of traditional foods in China. Which tastes good, quite cheap and some of them stated that it can refresh yourself which means works like coffee effects (since it is with tea). But then some professionals stated that it could harm your stomach. So let’s study about this a bit!

Eggs: which is so easy to find anywhere and I guess most Asian couldn’t live without these, the benefits of eating are a lot, not to mention that eggs contain amino acids, proteins and others elements that could make yourself healthier.

Tea: contains caffeine, it helps you to refresh and away from fatigue, beside it also contains tannic acid which can effectively prevent stroke and fluoride which can prevent dental disease. Two types of tea:
-black tea can effectively prevent skin cancer
-green tea contain tea polyphenols which is excellent antioxidants, anti-cancer, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory sterilization.

However, if you eat cha ye dan, the elements in the tea will combine with the calcium in eggs which later will prevent digestion and absorption in human bodies. Aside from that, this type of egg will also cause cancer if you eat a lot, because the process of cooking this egg will produce nitrite and other elements which will cause cancer. Last but not the least it will also cause anemia since it produce ferrous sulfide which will be cons for human bodies to absorb iron which later cause you anemia.

EMBARRASSED MOMENT

Do you have an embarrassing moment? Are you trying hard to remove it from your life or memory? Me, whenever I have an embarrassing moment, it actually scarred and stayed in my memory, it is really annoying because I tend to remember the embarrassing moment than the other more important stuffs such as studies, works and etc.
I remember once, when I was in Taiwan, I had my first embarrassing moment in Taiwan. That was a day when I went out all by myself and I was used to it though. I went to buy some daily needs and some knitting needs. When I was going back, I took the train and managed to get to the bus station for the bus.
And here comes the moment, embarrassing moment supposed to be just a moment but some will lasted and it makes you to think of it every time and makes you feel embarrassed. And I still felt the embarrassed…
When I was waiting in line, I was like just eating foods because I am so hungry. People tend to look at me because I wore a mask. I removed and used the mask every time I took a bite maybe this made me looked weird.
I waited for quite a moment until the bus came, I was so shocked because that was the first female bus driver I ever met after I came to Taiwan. She went to shop for a while I think in the nearest mall since she got her break time (women will always be women LOL).
I entered the bus as usual, and when I sit on my seat, I thought I should listen to songs. I used my headset and open the music on my phone. I was listening until I heard continuously a music which I never heard before and thinking that it was weird, I never had this kind of music on my phone.
I take a look on my phone and then, I realized I didn’t plug my headset and the music on my phone was on loudspeaker. I was so shocked back then and closed the music as soon as I could. After I closed it, then I heard the music that I never heard before. It turns out that that was the music that the driver chose.
I felt so awkward since there was somebody sitting beside me, but he didn’t tell me though. What a bad life a lead. And to remind you the music was ongoing like for 2 minutes before I realized it.
So, please be careful and alert whether you plug in the headset or not when you are in public places!

People who tend to remember their dreams also respond more strongly than others to hearing their name when they're awake, new research ...

IS REMEMBER YOUR DREAMS A GOOD MATTER?

People who tend to remember their dreams also respond more strongly than others to hearing their name when they're awake, new research suggests.
Everyone dreams during sleep, but not everyone recalls the mental escapade the next day, and scientists aren't sure why some people remember more than others.
To find out, researchers used electroencephalography to record the electrical activity in the brains of 36 people while the participants listened to background tunes, and occasionally heard their own first name. The brain measurements were taken during wakefulness and sleep. Half of the participants were called high recallers, because they reported remembering their dreams almost every day, whereas the other half, low recallers, said they only remembered their dreams once or twice a month.

When asleep, both groups showed similar changes in brain activity in response to hearing their names, which were played quietly enough not to wake them.
However, when awake, high recallers showed a more sustained decrease in a brain wave called the alpha wave when they heard their names, compared with the low recallers.
"It was quite surprising to see a difference between the groups during wakefulness," said study researcher Perrine Ruby, neuroscientist at Lyon Neuroscience Research Center in France.
The difference could reflect variations in the brains of high and low recallers that could have a role in how they dream, too, Ruby said.

Who remembers their dreams
A well-established theory suggests that a decrease in the alpha wave is a sign that brain regions are being inhibited from responding to outside stimuli. Studies show that when people hear a sudden sound or open their eyes, and more brain regions become active, the alpha wave is reduced.
In the study, as predicted, both groups showed a decrease in the alpha wave when they heard their names while awake. But high recallers showed a more prolonged decrease, which may be a sign their brains became more widely activated when they heard their names.
In other words, high recallers may engage more brain regions when processing sounds while awake, compared with low recallers, the researchers said.

While people are asleep, the alpha wave behaves in the opposite way —it increases when a sudden sound is heard. Scientists aren't certain why this happens, but one idea is that it protects the brain from being interrupted by sounds during sleep, Ruby said.
Indeed, the study participants showed an increase in the alpha wave in response to sounds during sleep, and there was no difference between the groups.
One possibility to explain the lack of difference, the researchers said, could be that perhaps high recallers had a larger increase in alpha waves, but it was so high that they woke up.
Time spent awake, during the night
The researchers saw that high recallers awoke more frequently during the night. They were awake, on average, for 30 minutes during the night, whereas low recallers were awake for 14 minutes. However, Ruby said "both figures are in the normal range, it’s not that there’s something wrong with either group."
Altogether, the results suggest the brain of high recallers may be more reactive to stimuli such as sounds, which could make them wake up more easily. It is more likely a person would remember their dreams if they are awakened immediately after one, Ruby said.
However, waking up at night can account for only a part of the differences people show in remembering dreams. "There's still much more to understand," she said.

There are quite a lot of animals that are not in the zoo when I went there on 23 December 2017, such as Formosan black bear, ferret, etc. They owned only one python, one elephant, one America bison and one pygmy hippopotamus.

When I was taking the picture with the green iguana, I was so shocked that the iguana actually stops its movement and stayed like a mannequin! And when I passed through the kid’s farm, I was given by the man two pieces of grass or something that the goat likes to eat, and I realized the goat actually know it and came closer to me. Thankfully they are not so wild. I touched their heads and feel their fur which is a bit rough. Oh and their rabbits looked fluffy and sooooooooooo fat! While their crocodiles and camel are so large, twice or thrice of me I think.
